La semilla de E. grandis producida por el programa de mejoramiento genético que lleva adelante el INIA con el apoyo de nCA está siendo evaluada a campo, a través de ensayos de rendimiento. Estos ensayos permiten cuantificar las ganancias genéticas reales a ser obtenidas por los productores forestales y comparar la productividad de esta semilla con otras fuentes de 'semilla comerciales. Los resultados obtenidos hasta el segundo año en el ensayo de mayor crecimiento (Rivera) confirman el excelente crecimiento obtenido por el lote de INIA. Este lote presenta mejoras en volumen en pie antes del raleo, efectuado a los 2 años, de entre 2.1 y 56.1% (dependiendo del lote con el que se compare) y de entre 2.4 y 44.5% después del mismo. |
